CLAIR-OBSCUR/ From shadow to light
Clair-obscur is a painter's word for finding light by setting it against dark. I wanted to try it across four pieces instead of inside one.
They run in order. The first moth has not left the dark - black organza, matte sequins, one spark of gold. The second is caught halfway out of the cocoon, one side still closed, the other already coming apart. In the third, sixteen moths have flown, and only the choker they left behind remains. The last one has landed and is almost white.
Two brooches and two necklaces, hand-embroidered with antique beads, crystals, silk, wool, mohair, and organza. Each exists once and will not be repeated.
