MY ODD PEARLS
Eight new pieces — and most of them were designed not by me, but by the pearls themselves.
Baroque pearls emerge from the water with no intention of being perfectly round. Each one seems to know what it wants to become.
One became a fish. Another was clearly a snail and only needed a silver body. I found a third one in the middle of blooming and gave it silver petals. And one was already a heart.
The four smallest pieces tell a different story. Here, the pearl steps back and becomes the foundation for miniature embroidery — a rose, two tiny beetles, and a small bouquet stitched in wool thread.
Each piece is one of a kind.
